"Menopause the Musical"

With my mind on the devastation Katrina brought and my own self-questioning of whether we really should get out of hurricane country and go back to earthquake country out West - I stumbled onto something rather hilarious and thought I would share it with you. There's nothing like a little comedy relief - something we could probably all use about now.

Anyway, I'm browsing the Orlando Sentinel and I come across this show called "Menopause The Musical." It looks too good to pass up. (Note: it may be coming to a city near you - just check out the web site.)

"Inspired by a hot flash and a bottle of wine, writer/producer Jeanie Linders created the show as a celebration of women who are on the brink of, in the middle of, or have survived The Change."

It all started in a tiny 76-seat perfume-shop-turned-theatre in Orlando, FL on March 28, 2001. Four women at a Bloomingdale's lingerie sale with nothing in common but a black lace bra and hot flashes, night sweats, memory loss, chocolate binges, not enough sex, too much sex and more. A joyful parody of 25 re-lyricized classic baby boomer hits, the 90-minute show features such chart-toppers as "I Heard It Thru the Grapevine; You No Longer See 39" and the disco favorite "Stayin' Awake! Stayin' Awake!"

It made me laugh and gave me chills at the same time. I feel inspired. I feel invincible. The possibilities seem endless. We are in demand, ladies, and it's time to get ourselves out there. The world is waiting! :)
